About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details a procurement for 40 Jimsphere weather balloons for the 309th Software Engineering Group's Atmospheric Meteorological Profiling System (AMPS) Replacement Project at Hill Air Force Base. The specific requirement is for High Resolution Wind Profiler balloons with precise specifications, including a 2-meter diameter, clear 1/2 mil polyester film, 398 random 3" cones molded into the surface, and weighing approximately 315 grams. The balloons will be used to test weather conditions for launches at Vandenberg Space Force Base, providing critical atmospheric and wind pattern data to determine launch feasibility.
The contract includes a delivery period of 120 days after receipt of order, with the Air Force intending to award a Firm Fixed Price Contract using a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) evaluation method. The procurement will be managed by the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center, with performance subject to government inspection and assessment through the Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS). The manufacturer specified is Meteorological Products Inc. (or equivalent), with the specific part number JC20-12-05, and the contract will be awarded to the lowest-priced offer that fully meets all technical specifications.

Equipment List”.
1.3 Background
The 309/520AD program conducts various launches at Vandenberg Space Force Base. In order to have a safe and successful launch, the program needs accurate data relative to atmospheric conditions and current wind patterns. Before the launch, this real-time information needs to be received to determine if the launch is a go/no-go.
2.0 DESCRIPTION OF WORK/OBJECTIVES/SERVICES
The contractor will be expected to provide quantity forty (40) weather balloons as described in the below screenshot of the “13400 Equipment List” document. The contractor shall follow each line item in the Description and Salient Characteristics and provide a product that matches exactly what is in this screenshot and is spelled out on the Equipment List document attached to the market research documents.
