About this file

This document appears to be a detailed technical specification for oceanographic buoys. The specification requires 10 air-deployable buoys with a Vinylester Fiberglass hull and steel ballast rod, certified for deployment from a Coast Guard C-130 aircraft. Each buoy must be equipped with sensors to measure air pressure, 2-m air temperature, and surface temperature, and include GPS position reporting and Iridium satellite telemetry systems.

The buoys must be designed with lithium batteries capable of operating for at least 2 years in extreme temperatures as low as -40°C. The contractor is responsible for providing 10 buoys with Iridium telemetry that meet these comprehensive technical requirements, suggesting this is likely a maritime research or environmental monitoring contract for a federal agency, potentially the Coast Guard or a scientific research organization.
