(SSEL) and the Naval Academy Small Satellite Program (NASSP), USNA actively participates in space electric propulsion research. This plasma characterization and testing system will be used to (i) provide hands-on education to the students participating in CubeSat-scale research projects and (ii) conduct advanced space plasma propulsion research. One of the core components of this system is a thermal-vacuum chamber to characterize, test and qualify (for launch) small satellites and miniature electric propulsion thrusters, and to perform basic plasma physics experiments. The thermal-vacuum chamber will be an institutional resource available for faculty and student research projects in all Engineering Departments USNA Divisions.

REQUIRED CAPABILITIES

The contractor shall first deliver a design review. After acceptance of the proposed design, the contractor shall deliver the complete thermal vacuum system, which shall consist of:

- one vacuum chamber,

- one cold plate,

- one roughing pump,

- one turbomolecular pump system,

- one cryo pump system,

- three gate valves,

- any supporting software,

- any required cables, hoses, vacuum flanges, O-rings, CF flanges, and
