About this file
This document is a Sole Source Justification for purchasing chairs and tables to match existing furniture in an academic facility. The facility was recently constructed, and the original furniture was provided by a small business vendor. Due to changes in training methods, the existing furniture needs to be reconfigured from cubicles to a traditional classroom layout.
The justification states that only one vendor, the original furniture provider, can perform this reconfiguration work while maintaining the existing warranty. This vendor has intimate knowledge of the previously installed furniture and can ensure an exact match to the original design. The estimated total cost is spread across OM&N, OPN, and RDT&E funding. The statutory authority cited is FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) for purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold when only one source is reasonably available. The justification is tied to a related federal contract opportunity for a Notice of Intent to Sole Source this furniture supply and installation requirement.
