About this file
This is a Job Specification document for USS NEW ORLEANS (LPD-18) detailing requirements for a temporary stowage container to support deck work operations. The specification was prepared by N. Kuwahara on January 5, 2026, and approved by S. Murakami and A. Oka, with work to be completed at Sasebo.
The contractor must provide one lockable, weatherproof metal storage container (CONEX) with 1,280 cubic feet capacity (20 feet by 8 feet by 8 feet) to be located adjacent to the ship within 500 feet of the vessel. The container must include 160 square feet of floor space and 200 square feet of shelving space meeting local fire prevention codes. The contractor shall provide five sets of keys to the supervisor, deliver the storage space five days prior to availability start, and install a fully charged 15-pound CO2 fire extinguisher within four feet of each access. The container must feature 28 foot-candles minimum lighting with explosion-proof lights, one non-sparking electric exhaust vent fan, one 115 VAC 15-amp power receptacle, a minimum 7-foot ceiling height, and a floor load limit of 100 pounds per square foot. The contractor shall remove the container upon notification by the supervisor and accomplish requirements for new and disturbed surfaces per Standard Item 009-32. No government-furnished material is provided. The work supports Repair Two deck operations during 6A1 CMAV requiring temporary storage for equipment and materials.
