If air pressure can not be maintained at or above 12 PSIG for aspirator pumps and 42 PSIG for discharge pumps for 15 minutes check all fittings and connections for leakage using a soapy water solution. If all fittings and connections are verified tight, suspect a leaking pump mechanical seal. The seal should be scheduled for replacement. If pump is to be put back into service perform Step 1.0. through Step 1.q. and Step lx. through Step 1.ae. If waste water or cooling fluid contaminated with waste water leaks between the motor and pump intermediate coupling

° Connect test kit air pump to air valve on air leak test rig and pressurize pump seal cavity to 15 PSIG for aspirator pumps and 45 PSIG for sewage discharge pumps; quickly remove air pump to seat air valve and ensure pump removal has not caused the pressure to drop.

0. Crack lower drain plug to relieve air pressure then remove.

P Remove air leak test rig.

q. Reconnect upper and lower hoses to the adapter fittings on the pump and seal reservoir.

r. Remove 3/4 inch by '/2 inch NPT adapter fitting from air leak test rig and install on reservoir fill valve inlet (see Figure

1).

NOTE 3: Observe reservoir pressure gage for 15 minutes. If air pressure drops below 12 PSIG for aspirator pumps or 42 PSIG for sewage discharge pumps, check all reservoir mechanical connections, fittings and pump hose connections for leaks using a soapy water solution. Correct leaks as required and re-test.

Connect test kit air pump to air valve on test rig.

¯ Pressurize pump seal system to 15 PSIG for aspirator pumps and 45 PSIG for discharge pumps and close fill valve.

u. Remove air leak test rig and air pump.

v. Slowly open reservoir fill valve to relieve air pressure.

w. Remove disposable gloves. Put on apron, faceshield, and nitrate gloves.

WARNING: Avoid repeated/prolonged skin contact with hazardous materials. Wash affected areas with soap and water upon completion oftask or prior to eating, drinking, smoking, or applying cosmetics.

WARNING: Avoid inhalation of, ingestion of, skin contact with, and eye contact with hazardous materials. Avoid use near heat or open flame and provide adequate ventilation. Consult work center supervisor if unsure whether ventilation is adequate and if respiratory protection is necessary.

X. Place funnel in fill valve inlet and add 50/50 mixture of water and propylene glycol until reservoir is 3/4-full as indicated on sight glass.

Y. Install air leak test rig and air pump on reservoir fill valve inlet.

z. Pressurize pump seal system to 15 PSIG for aspirator pumps and 45 PSIG for discharge pumps and close fill valve.

aa. Remove leak test rig and air pump.

ab. Reinstall pipe plug in fill valve inlet.

ac. Remove faceshield, goggles, apron, and nitrite gloves.

ad. Remove safety tags from plumbing waste aspirator and discharge pump suction and discharge valves and open valves.

NOTE 4: Personnel shall wash hands, exposed portion of arms and face with mild soap (facial) and water. Wash hands only with full strength surgical detergent with water and lather, followed by thorough rinse, before eating, drinking, or smoking.

NOTE 5: Hand Soap is workcenter provided in order to complete PMS check. Various hand soaps are provided in the heads. This soap is sufficient to clean hands and face for any bacteria that may be acquired during performance of Maintenance Requirement.

WARNING: Avoid eye and skin contact with detergent/soaps.

WARNING: Personnel involved in sanitary waste maintenance should not eat, drink, or smoke until hands and face have been thoroughly washed with soap and water.

ae. Remove safety tags from aspirator and sewage discharge pump controllers and press "START" pushbuttons on both aspirator controllers and place sewage discharge pump controller selector switches in the "AUTO" positions.
