REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)
C-17 Real Time Information in the Cockpit (RTIC)
The Government is requesting information on industry capability to field RTIC on C-17s. The effort will include purchasing equipment, integration of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) components, creating and/or updating technical data packages, and aircraft installation.
The total C-17 RTIC system is based on the C-130H RTIC solution and the C-130J/C-17 Dynamic Retasking Capability (DRC) system solution. The C-17 RTIC system is comprised of a pilot and copilot display and mount assembly, on-A/C installed RTIC components, existing and host A/C systems, both line of sight and beyond line of sight data-link radios, a processor/computer/server that connects and coordinates the communication between the displays and radios, all of which work together to provide required operational performance. A/C installed RTIC components include RTIC LRUs/SRUs, and all associated wiring, fixtures, connectors and other components necessary to integrate RTIC into the C-17 as a permanently installed system.
The C-17 RTIC system is grouped into two kits, the A-kit and the B-kit. The A-kit will include: antennas for SATCOM and SADL, display mount assemblies, LRU/SRU equipment rack and all applicable wiring. The B-kit shall include: MIL SATCOM Transceiver, High Power Amplifier, Low Noise Amplifier/Triplexer, Situational Awareness Data Link Terminal, Cockpit Mounted Displays, Expansion Module Unit, Data Link Processor, and all required wiring, filters, switches, power adaptors, etc. The mission software will be the government owned Tactical Airlift Mission Software Suite (TAMSS). The system shall allow for growth and development, including technical refreshes of existing equipment, and the addition of new equipment. The system will use non-developmental and off-the-shelf hardware, and currently fielded communication waveforms.
