About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for Solicitation 040ADV-26-R-0010, a G-Street Sidewalk Repair project issued by the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO).

The project encompasses sidewalk repair work with a 180-calendar-day construction duration. Normal work hours are Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with noisy work requiring advance coordination with the GPO Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and potential off-hours or phased scheduling. The entire work area will be available simultaneously but access and work will be phased to coordinate with GPO operations. Staging is permitted in designated locations approved during the preconstruction meeting, though storage in public sidewalks, streets, or parking lanes requires prior approval and local permitting compliance. Building entrance access and egress points must be maintained to the greatest extent possible, with the G Street Entrance closed during construction in that area requiring temporary pedestrian routing and protection. Civil Drawings C001–C010 are included in the bid package and must be referenced for project scope. Contractors must remove and reinstall existing granite curbs and gutter materials, salvaging suitable materials for reuse to match existing conditions. Aluminum railing shop drawings must be signed and sealed by a Professional Engineer, with factory-finished systems provided per specifications and color selection by the Owner from manufacturer's standard options. Pedestrian traffic coating is required at new concrete ramps, stairs, and walking surfaces. Driveway apron work is included in the base scope without additional bidding items. Sheet metal ductwork conflicting with sidewalk and structural repairs is included in demolition scope, with only necessary ductwork removed. Buy American compliance is required where specified in contract documents. If asbestos-containing materials are encountered, work must stop immediately, the GPO notified, and abatement performed by certified personnel under an approved plan prepared by a certified industrial hygienist in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations.
