About this file

This document is a Notice of Intent to Sole Source issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to procure remotely operated electrical safety equipment from Circuit Breaker Sales, NE, LLC (CBS) under the simplified acquisition procedures of FAR Part 13.

NIST intends to award a single-source contract to CBS for custom-designed Arc-Safe equipment used to protect electrical employees when working on high-voltage circuit breakers at the NIST Gaithersburg campus. This is a commercial service requirement estimated to be under the simplified acquisition threshold. NIST has determined that CBS is the sole provider of this proprietary equipment that meets the required protection standards, and a sole-source award is in the government's best interests to maintain the warranty and avoid risk. Interested parties have until April 17, 2024 to demonstrate their capability to meet the requirement in writing. This notice is not a solicitation, but a market research effort to determine if competition is possible.
