Brand-Name-Or-Equal to PHOTONEO BIN-PICKING Studio with PhoXi 3D Scanner M SYSTEM
General Statement of Need:
The Intelligent Systems Division (ISD) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) develops, advances and deploys measurement science and standards to speed development, adoption, and integration of leading-edge intelligent technologies to advance U.S. manufacturing performance. One of the programmatic goals of ISD is to demonstrate and develop tests for different bin-picking systems that are used in industry.
Purpose:
The purpose of this requirement is to obtain one (1) bin-picking system, including software, on a BRAND-NAME-OR-EQUAL basis to the Photoneo Bin Picking Studio with PhoXi 3D Scanner M, manufactured by Photoneo SRO, located at Plynarenska 1, 82109 Bratislava, Slovakia. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM, as well as related software, must provide the positions and orientations of parts in a bin and part picking motion plans. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM must be compatible with the existing UR5e ROBOT ARM, manufactured by Universal Robots and at least one other ROBOT ARM from a different manufacturer. The Bin Picking System shall have the capability to be mounted fixed on the robot arm and separate from the robot arm. The system must have an auto-calibration feature and any apparatuses needed must be included.
Description of Required Products
Specifically, the contractor shall provide the items listed in the following section manufactured by Photoneo SRO on a BRAND-NAME-OR-EQUAL basis in accordance with the following specifications. All items must be new. Used or remanufactured equipment will not be considered for award. Products quoted must be essentially equal to the supply described in this solicitation, which specifically includes the following manufacturer item, quantity and description:
Item
Part #
Qty
Description
Photoneo Bin Picking Studio with PhoXi 3D Scanner M
BPS M
1
Combination of software and hardware to detect parts using a PhoXi M 3D scanner and provide path planning to the robot arm.
The BRAND-NAME-OR-EQUAL BIN-PICKING SYSTEM must meet, or exceed, the following salient characteristics:
1. The Bin Picking System shall be compatible with at least two different brands (and models) of robot arms, with at least one of them being an existing Universal Robots UR5e robot arm.
2. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM shall be able to be mounted fixed on the ROBOT ARM and separate from the ROBOT ARM
3. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM shall have an auto-calibration feature and any apparatuses needed shall be provided by the vendor.
4. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM shall be able to determine the pose (position and orientation) of a PART in a bin of randomly-arranged, identical parts.
5. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM shall work with different sizes and types of bins.
6. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM shall have vision technology that meets the following requirements:
i. Based on a laser that is eye-safe.
ii. Based on structured light patterns for acquiring 3D data.
iii. Contains camera that has a resolution of 3 mega pixels (or more).
iv. Has a minimum working distance of 450 mm (or less).
v. Has a 3D imaging volume with a length of 800 mm (or more), a width of 650 mm (or more), and a depth of 650 mm (or more).
vi. Has a 3D scanner weighing less than 1000 grams
7. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM shall be able to measure the pose (position and orientation) of several parts in a bin and provide those measurements to the robot controller in 3 seconds or less.
8. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM shall be able to detect part location based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) without the necessity for CAD models.
9. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM shall work with parts that:
i. Range from matte to specular (i.e., shiny)
ii. Range from dark to light colored
iii. Symmetrical or asymmetrical
iv. Rigid (i.e., non-flexible parts)
v. Not marked or altered specially for use with the BIN-PICKING SYSTEM
vi. Have a minimum size of 10 mm x 10 mm (or smaller).
10. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM shall have the ability of providing collision-free path planning instructions to the ROBOT ARM for picking the parts detected by the system.
11. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM’s software interface configurator shall be web-based with a visual representation of each step of the configuration.
12. The 3D scanner of the BIN-PICKING SYSTEM shall be rated IP65 or better for ingress protection.
13. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM shall include the required hardware, software, and computer (and/or controller) to provide pose information to the ROBOT ARM controller.
14. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM shall be operable on standard U.S. mains (i.e., 110-120V, 60 Hz) or the vendor shall provide an appropriate step-up or step-down transformer.
15. The BIN-PICKING SYSTEM shall be configured to identify at least one user defined PART (digital asset).
DELIVERY
Delivery shall be made F.O.B. destination. Delivery shall occur within the vendor’s standard commercial lead time, but no later than 8 weeks after contractor receipt of order. The product shall initially arrive for delivery and truck inspection at the NIST Shipping and Receiving address identified below.
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 100 Bureau Drive Building 301 Shipping & Receiving Gaithersburg, MD 20899-8940
F.O.B. Destination means: The contractor shall pack and mark the shipment in conformance with carrier requirements, deliver the shipment in good order and condition to the point of delivery specified in the purchase order, be responsible for any loss of and/or damage to the goods occurring before receipt and acceptance of the shipment by the consignee at the delivery point specified in the purchase order; and pay all charges to the specified point of delivery.
Inspection and Acceptance In addition to the inspection and acceptance terms articulated in 52.212-4, the Government reserves the right to perform such performance tests and evaluations as defined below to verify specified system performance. Such tests and evaluations, if performed, shall be conducted within the environment that the system is to be operated.
NIST will inspect and test the equipment in the lab for a period of 30 calendar days after installation to ensure that the manufacturer’s specifications have been met and that the equipment is functioning correctly before official receipt acceptance. If all other requirements are also met, the product shall be accepted.
WARRANTY
The contractor shall warrant the entire system, in accordance with the Original Equipment Manufacturers’ (OEM) standard commercial item warranty, for a minimum of 1 year after acceptance of the equipment and the warranty shall be in accordance with terms in FAR 52.212-4. The warranty shall include cost for parts and labor by an OEM certified technician for defects, workmanship faults, or loss of functional operation stemming from normal use and operation.
Contractor shall also provide technical support in accordance with OEM specifications to include resolution of technical issues related to purchased products for the warrantied period of the equipment.
