About this file

This document is a detailed service specification for a 7.5-year major service of an Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) for the USNS Perry (TAKE 9), issued by the Military Sealift Command. The service requirement involves comprehensive maintenance of a 2200 KW, 480 Volt AC Synchronous Generator located in the EDG Room, with specific tasks including cleaning generator windings, inspecting rotor shaft bearing journals, replacing bearing liners and oil seals, and conducting thorough testing and documentation.

The contract specifies that only original equipment manufacturer (OEM) authorized field service providers or MSC-qualified technical providers can perform the work, with Kato Engineering Inc. identified as a potential source. The service must include providing electronic documentation, a signed manufacturer qualification letter, training certificates, and comprehensive reports detailing the generator's condition. The work is critical, involving a Ship Critical Safety Item (SCSI), and requires strict compliance with technical requirements, safety protocols, and federal regulations for disposal and maintenance. The associated federal contract opportunity (N4044325Q0058) is a sole-source procurement specifically for servicing the Emergency Diesel Generators on the USNS Matthew Perry.
