This document contains a request for information and description of a federal contract opportunity for rehabilitation of spillway gates at Barkley Dam in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District is soliciting information to determine a competitive basis for a firm fixed-price construction contract valued between $5 million and $10 million. The selected contractor will be responsible for rehabilitating the mechanical and electrical systems of 12 spillway gates, replacing 6 gate systems in FY22 with an option to replace the remaining 6 in FY23. Responses to the request for information are due by March 4, 2022 and should include details of three relevant past projects as a prime contractor or subcontractor, small business classification, anticipated subcontracting percentage, bonding capacity, and a statement on intent to bid if the project is advertised. Summary of Work Barkley Dam, Rehabilitate Spillway Gates Mechanical and Electrical - Phase I

Barkley Dam has twelve spillway gates and each gate has mechanical equipment powered by electrical distribution control systems to raise and lower the gate. Replacement of both the mechanical and electrical systems is necessary as many components are original to the construction of the dam c.1966.

Electrical design engineering will develop plans and specifications for the electrical distribution system on the spillway control gates.

Mechanical design engineering will develop plans and specifications for replacement of the mechanical systems, with attention to the limitation of only being able to replace one spillway gate system at a time, leaving the remainder operating for flood control missions.

FY22 scope will be to replace 6 of 12 spillway gate systems, with an option in FY23 to replace the last 6 spillway gate systems.
