About this file

This document is an Addendum issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) for the Gamble Plantation - Patten House Roof Repair project in response to Hurricane Milton, with bid number BDC03-25/26. The addendum provides clarifications and answers to bidder questions regarding roof repair specifications, including product manufacturer flexibility, rafter replacement requirements, soffit and fascia board installations, and dimensional lumber interpretations. The bid submittal due date has been postponed to October 7, 2025, at 3:30 PM ET, with a bid posting date of October 21, 2025, at 3:30 PM ET, to be submitted to Brandon Williams, Contracts Specialist at the Bureau of Design and Construction in Tallahassee.

The addendum addresses multiple technical specifications for the historic house roof repair, such as allowing alternative product manufacturers, guidance on hurricane clip reuse, ridge installation requirements, and rafter replacement procedures. Contractors are required to sign and include this addendum with their bid submission, with failure to do so potentially resulting in bid rejection. The project appears focused on preserving the historic integrity of the Patten House while addressing roof damage, with specific instructions on maintaining original architectural profiles and replacing damaged structural elements as needed.

Answer: (Verify condition, if one does not exist install new 2x10).

Answer: Install 2x4 sub-fascia with 1x6 fascia board to match exist. conditions.

Answer: Rough sawn is considered to have actual dimensions of 2 1/2"x5 1/2".

11. Question: For “scab on each side,” what is the required length of scabbing the existing rafters?
