About this file
This is a technical specification document for sewer manhole rehabilitation services issued by the City of Hayward, California, for Project No. 07693. The project involves the application of a mortar and epoxy composite corrosion barrier system to protect sanitary sewer manholes and related structures from deterioration. The work encompasses surface preparation, application of restoration mortar, and application of epoxy corrosion barrier coating. Contractors must demonstrate specialized training and competency, with foremen requiring a minimum of four years of experience in similar work and nozzlemen requiring equivalent experience. The City of Hayward is accepting electronic bid submissions through the OpenGov Procurement platform, with interested bidders required to create a free account and submit responses accordingly.
The specification requires all restoration mortar and epoxy corrosion barrier materials to be from a single manufacturer with a minimum three-year successful service history in aggressive sewer environments. Specified products include Mainstay ML-72 Sprayable Microsilica Restoration Mortar with strict compressive, flexural, tensile, and bond strength requirements, and Mainstay DS-5 100% Solids Epoxy Coating or approved equivalents. Contractors must submit detailed work plans, safety plans, and personnel qualifications 48 hours prior to commencing work. The specification mandates strict environmental application conditions, surface preparation standards with minimum ICRI Concrete Surface Profile #4, restoration mortar application to a minimum thickness of one-half inch above surface peaks, and epoxy application at 100 mils minimum thickness. Field quality control includes visual inspection and high voltage holiday detection testing in accordance with NACE RP 0188, with all defects requiring repair and follow-up testing to confirm suitability.
