STATEMENT OF WORK
Title: Co-Sponsorship of the 2024 International Symposium on Technological Advances in Human-Robot Interaction (TAHRI)
Requesting Lab: NIST Engineering Laboratory (EL)
I. BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Purpose/Objective: The purpose of this acquisition is to provide the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) with co-sponsorship for the inaugural TAHRI conference. TAHRI is the evolution of several related events in human-robot interaction (HRI) which NIST staff have participated in for several years. TAHRI will enable industry and academia to connect & collaborate on software, hardware, and standards, and create better tech transfer. This new conference is not currently supported by another professional organization, so NIST participation and sponsorship of this event is essential to provide formal support for work on frameworks, datasets, metrics, & standards in the field of HRI. Semio Community, a non-profit organization, is the host organization for this conference, which is to be held at the University of Colorado, Boulder. As the host organization, Semio Community is the only contractor with which NIST can contract to co-sponsor the event.
Sponsorship of the annual TAHRI symposium is motivated by NIST providing formal support for work on frameworks, datasets, metrics, & standards in the field of HRI. The TAHRI symposium will enable industry and academia to connect and collaborate on software, hardware, and standards, thus improving the means for technological transfer. NIST sponsorship and participation of this event is essential to helping augment industry sources committed to the field of HRI.
II. SCOPE OF WORK
The contractor shall provide NIST with co-sponsorship of the 2024 TAHRI symposium. Co-sponsorship will provide NIST with the opportunity to contribute to event costs and logistics of the 2024 TAHRI Conference, including venue rental at the University of Colorado (CU) Boulder, CU event planner fees, audio visual (A/V) costs for hybridizing, as well as pre-conference costs for web hosting, subsidizing registration cost for five (5) NIST staff and for five (5) students and applicants of under-represented groups, prominent display of the NIST logo on conference materials, and for other planning purposes.
The general scope of the conference venue rental shall include presentation and attendance space for 100-120 attendees, as well as space for a poster session, a sponsor exhibit room, demo space, area for coffee breaks, and a reception/networking space.
This is a firm fixed price contract requirement.
