E. Working Hours and Restrictions: The work hours for this project are 7:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday excluding all Federal Holidays.

SUMMARY OF WORK

A. Background:

There are two manholes in Taxiway Tango that need repairs. The existing concrete around the existing manhole as well as the concrete slab that the manhole is located within is in very poor shape needs replacement.

B. Taxiway Tango Repair:

- This project consists of the demolition of the concrete around two manholes located within Taxiway Tango. The area and extents of the concrete demolition is as shown in Appendix A (Locus and Project Limits) and shall be sawcut prior to demolition. The concrete shall be cut into small enough pieces to allow for lifting them out without damaging the remaining concrete.

- The existing manholes have damage to the concrete cast-in-place tops in which the frames and covers are set. See Appendix B (Pictures of Existing Structures). A repair is needed to provide the structural integrity of the manhole structure. The repair will also include adjusting the frame and cover to meet the grades of the remaining concrete slabs.

- After Notice to Proceed, the contractor shall perform a site survey of the location to confirm the conditions as outlined in this SOW. The Contractor shall then submit sealed (by a Professional Engineer) shop drawings for approval on the proposed method for the manhole structure repairs and adjustment. The method for adjustment shall take into account aircraft loading as required.

- The frame and cover can be replaced with a frame and grate if necessary for the repair to work due to availability of frame sizes.

- Three possible repair concepts as determined by WARB CE include but are not limited to the following:

1. Removing the existing manhole frames and covers, cut down the manhole structure to allow for a new precast top with integrated frame and grate to meet the elevation of the remaining concrete of adjacent slabs.

2. Remove the existing frame and cover by cutting down the existing structure approximately 10” to the 36” square manhole vertical structure and using a new wide flanged heavy-duty frame and grate which shall be placed on the cutdown structure with enough bearing on the concrete for aircraft loading. The frame and grate shall be adjusted and secured to meet aircraft loading requirements.

3. Remove the existing cast-in-place top, frame and pour a new cast-in- place top with integrated frame and cover.

See Appendix C (As-built Drawings with Markups).

- The remaining base material is to be compacted and additional graded-crushed aggregate base coarse as specified in Spec. Section 32 11 23 is to be placed and compacted as required.

- 5” minimum of hot mix asphalt (HMA) as specified in Spec. Section 32 12 15.13 shall be placed up on top of the compacted base course to the elevation of the remaining adjacent concrete. The HMA is to be placed in multiple lifts to allow for proper compaction.

- Any pavement markings that were removed or damaged during the repair process shall be repainted in accordance with Spec Section 32 17 23.
