About this file

This document is a Sole Source Justification form for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for a SunService Premier Support Service Contract with Sun Nuclear Corporation. The contract is for a firm-fixed price procurement valued at $260,745.00, covering the period from 06/01/2025 to 05/30/2026 with four potential option periods. The VA will utilize FAR 13.5 Simplified Procedures for Certain Commercial Items to award a sole source contract to Sun Nuclear Corporation for hardware and service support at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center.

The justification emphasizes that Sun Nuclear Corporation is the only firm capable of providing the required technical skills, management, parts, upgrades, and equipment, with proprietary software and hardware currently in use. Market research conducted by the VA using various databases and searches confirmed no alternative vendors could meet the requirements. The contract aims to maintain system functionality for veteran patient services, and the VA will continue to research the market for potential future competitive sources. The document includes certifications from a Biomedical Engineer, Contracting Officer, and a Branch Chief, indicating internal approvals for the sole source procurement.
