The specification outlines eight distinct work items focused on inspection, testing, maintenance, and renewal of multiple fire suppression and fire prevention systems aboard the WMSL vessels. Work Item 1 requires semi-annual and annual maintenance of the Ansul R-102 galley grease fire suppression system, including tank inspection, hose evaluation, and hood maintenance with submittal of Contractor's Fire Reports (CFRs). Work Item 2 addresses Gas Turbine Module (GTM) enclosure fire system testing, including temperature switches, flame detectors, and sensor verification during operation. Work Item 3 covers Heptafluoropropane (HFP) fire extinguishing system inspection and functional testing for three compartments (Paint Locker, Hazmat Stowage Locker, and Flammable Liquid Storage Locker), with cylinder pressure checks and electrical system verification. Work Item 4 requires comprehensive inspection and testing of the GTM fixed CO2 fire extinguishing system, including detection system checks, cylinder weight verification, and discharge delay timer testing. Work Item 5 specifies performance of a discharge test of the water mist fire extinguishing system using the Huntington Ingalls Test Procedure with advance test plan submission 48 hours prior to execution. Work Item 6 mandates annual inspection of the water mist system including operational tests, visual inspections, nozzle removal and inspection (25% sampling across four machinery spaces), and zone control valve restoration. Work Item 7 requires renewal of flexible hose assemblies for No. 1 and No. 2 water mist systems with hydrostatic testing at 150% rated working pressure, flushing, new hose tags, and documentation in Microsoft Excel format. Work Item 8 addresses fire prevention requirements including development of a fire plan, appointment of a Fire Prevention Responsible Party, participation in fire prevention conferences, maintenance of fire boundaries and curtains meeting MIL-C-24757 standards, and quarterly fire prevention inspections in the presence of a Coast Guard Inspector.

All work items require a Qualified Technical Representative with demonstrated experience in the specific fire suppression systems. The specification mandates Coast Guard Inspector presence for all critical inspections and tests, with results documented via CFRs. Government-furnished property includes four Ultra Fog Sock Filters (NSN 4210-01-660-6485) valued at $225 per unit. The work is performed at the Coast Guard Yard facility, with contractors required to comply with SFLC Standard Specifications (0000, 0740, 5000, 5550, and 6310) covering general requirements, welding, auxiliary systems, fire prevention and response, and ship structure preservation.
