1. SCOPE:
1.1 Objective: Clean the bottom of Fuel Tank/Lube Oil Tanks

5. Pump Out and properly dispose of all remaining fuel, water, sludge and debris.
6. High pressure water wash tanks including sides, overhead, bottom and all internals to remove slime and light scale. Light scraping may be necessary but take care not to damage coating systems. Pump out, remove, and properly dispose of all residual water and debris.
7. Post a gas‐free certificate, issued by a Marine Chemist, near the access to each tank, Provide a copy of each gas‐free certificate to the COR.
8. After all work is completed inside the tanks and accepted by the COR, close each opened tank using new gaskets. (Cork style for fuel tanks). Renew all missing and broken fasteners and chase all manhole cover threads. Estimate up to 10% missing or broken fasteners.
Notify the COR at least four hours in advance of closing each tank. Immediately prior to closing each tank the COR or designate will inspect the tanks interior to verify that all rags and other residual debris are removed.
9. Open, ventilate, clean safe for entry of workers, descale fuel tanks, and close tanks specified in attachment #1.
9.1 OPTION #1 – Contractor to store Fuel/Lube Oil
9.2 Contractor to provide equipment necessary to filter (5micron) fuel and store approximately 96,000 gallons of diesel. Filter fuel as it is removed from the ship, and filter again as it is put back onto the ship. There is approximately 125 gallons of lube oil that will also need to be stored/filtered. Contractor will not be able to store the fuel directly on the pier, as the pier is not able to support this weight. The contractor can use space on the shore to store fuel. (Approximately 100 yards from the pier)
9.3 Contractor to provide all necessary equipment to accomplish the following. Contractor to provide their own tank entry certification. Contractor to open/close tanks.
9.4 Cleaning the bottom of all fuel tanks and lube oil tanks. See attachment #1 for current tank soundings and capacities. It was discovered that there appears to be sandblast grit in the bottom of the tanks. Please see picture #1 for condition inside the tanks.
