REQUIREMENTS
CDC has a Brand name requirement for The QIAcuity One 5-plex Digital PCR system which is a dPCR system with the capability of detecting up to 5 fluorescent dyes in a single sample well and is designed to deliver precise and multiplexed quantification results for mutation detection, copy number variation (CNV), gene expression, gene editing analysis, and more. The nanoplate based system provides an automated platform that completes the standard dPCR workflow with minimal hands-on time. The automated platform will increase lab efficiency and provide precise results from sample to data analysis within 2 hours. The purchase of the equipment also includes the QIAcuity Software Suite where laboratorians can define procedures and assign dPCR experiments to the nanoplates, once the run is complete the data can be analyzed within the suite or exported for external analysis. The software allows for multiple users to access with a standard browser without requiring multiple software downloads or software licenses. The workflow will be used to qualify new virus stocks used in antigenic analysis with a quicker turnaround.
The potential use of other products was considered (BioRad QX ONE Droplet Digital PCR System, Qiagen QIAcuity One 2-Plex Digital PCR system). However, these products did not meet all the key elements we were looking for in a dPCR system. The BioRad system was not a standalone solution and required purchase and upkeep of an additional instrument, it also had a more difficult workflow that was inappropriate for regular use. The other Qiagen instrument, while more affordable, lacked the multiplexing capabilities which could limit the applications of the instrument.
Further, when purchasing directly from the manufacturer the purchase price includes the instrument, installation, training, and a 1-year warranty that includes service requests with a 2-business day response time and the first annual preventative maintenance. The manufacturer offers CDC/APHL partnership pricing that provides an 11% discount on the instrument/service agreement and a 50% discount on start-up consumables.
Additionally this system is used by other teams within our branch which opens opportunities for collaboration and help with optimizing assays with other CDC scientists.
Place (s) of Performance: Service is to be performed at the following location:
CDC (NCIRD\ID\VSDB)
1600 Clifton Road NE Atlanta, GA 30329
*CDC POC will be given at time of award*
