About this file
This document is an Addendum to a Request for Competitive Quotes (RFCQ) issued by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) for Timber Bridge Deck and Rail Materials, Bid # S-73000-00005103. The addendum makes changes to the preservative treatment specifications for the glulam girders, deck panels, timber curbs, railings, and scupper blocks, allowing for an alternate treatment using Copper Naphthenate in Type A heavy oil. The addendum also provides a clarification that ODOT will be providing the steel connections and various hardware, while bidders are expected to provide pricing for the individual timber elements.
The contract opportunity is for the supply of timber bridge deck and rail materials for projects in Marion County and the City of Salem. Bids are due by January 3, 2023, at 11:00 am. ODOT will be responsible for providing the steel connections and hardware, while bidders are expected to provide unit pricing and total pricing for the timber elements, including deck panels, rails, posts, and other components.

Addendum 1 to RFCQ – Bid # S-73000-00005103 (Attachment to Amendment 1 in OregonBuys)
Timber Bridge Deck and Rail Materials Bids due 1/3/2023 11:00 am
This addendum changes the specifications/plans and provides a clarification:
CHANGES:
1. On sheet J01, Preservative Treatment Notes, add the following to the end of paragraph 2: Alternate treatment for glulam girders and deck panels: Copper Naphthenate in Type A heavy oil conforming to AWPA standard UC4B, and standards P36. Retention level must be 0.075 lb/ft3.
2. On sheet J01, Preservative Treatment Notes, add the following to the end of paragraph 3: Alternate treatment for timber curbs, railings and scupper blocks: Copper Naphthenate in Type A heavy oil conforming to AWPA standard UC4B, and standards P36. Retention level must be 0.075 lb/ft3.
CLARIFICATION:
The following question and answer is intended as a clarification to the RFCQ and does not make any changes to specifications/plans:
Q: The price quote sheet asks for unit pricing and total pricing broken up for all timber elements (deck panels, rails, posts, etc)…which is great. But obviously the plans show the steel connections and various hardware bolts for said connections. Is the steel and hardware being provided by ODOT?
If ODOT is expecting bidders to supply the steel/hardware, I suppose we’d just roll this into the individual “timber” pricing.
A. Steel connections and various hardware will be provided by ODOT.
