This classification denotes the group of activities that yields an intervention or procedure of planar nuclear medicine imaging of thyroid gland using iodine 131 (i-131). This intervention or procedure is listed in the World Health Organization's International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems or ICD-10 as code CG12GZZ

UNSPSC 85882616 Planar nuclear medicine imaging of thyroid gland using iodine 131 (I-131), a Commodity code, shows no recent state and local procurement activity aligned with its nominal scope. The three most recent opportunities tagged to this code involve diagnostic imaging PACS implementation, special education contracted services, and temporary health professional staffing services—none of which concern nuclear medicine thyroid imaging or iodine-131 procedures. This suggests either a systematic miscoding issue in the jurisdiction's procurement tagging system or that the code does not reflect active state and local buying patterns in recent months.

The mismatch between the code's clinical focus and the actual solicitations posted under it signals that vendors pursuing nuclear medicine imaging services should verify coding accuracy before responding to opportunities labeled 85882616, and should monitor for potential reclassification or corrected tagging as procurement offices update their taxonomy application.
