UNSPSC 72121516: Fixed oil and gas offshore production facilities fabrication service

Service to fabricate or construct jackets, compliant towers and gravity based structures for use in fixed platform oil and gas production facilities. Includes fabrication of piles

UNSPSC 72121516 Fixed oil and gas offshore production facilities fabrication service is a Commodity code that shows no relevant recent activity in state and local procurement. The two recent opportunities tagged to this code—an irrigation system upgrade for a Florida municipal park and armored car services for a Florida school district—fall entirely outside the code's nominal scope of offshore energy infrastructure fabrication and bear no connection to oil and gas platform construction or marine production systems.

The mismatch between the code's definition and the work actually being procured suggests either a data-quality issue in the tagging of these opportunities or minimal state and local solicitation activity under the code itself. Business development professionals should verify the actual UNSPSC classification of relevant opportunities before investing pursuit resources, as the code does not appear to be in active use for work aligned with its intended commodity definition.
