UNSPSC 70141704: Crop substitution

UNSPSC 70141704 Crop substitution is a Commodity code that shows a significant mismatch between its nominal scope and recent state and local procurement activity. The two most recent opportunities posted under this code involve production services for a large-scale outdoor event (audio, lighting, and LED display systems for a FIFA Fan Festival) and executive search services for municipal government recruitment — neither of which relates to crop substitution or agricultural commodity replacement. The code appears to be misapplied by the issuing jurisdictions rather than reflecting genuine procurement demand for crop-substitution products or services, and does not support reliable business development targeting based on the recent opportunity record.

No recent state and local contract opportunities present genuine demand for crop-substitution goods or services. The Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) and the City of College Park, Georgia, are the only jurisdictions reflected in the recent record, but their solicitations fall outside the code's intended scope. Business development professionals should verify UNSPSC categorization directly with purchasing offices before allocating resources to pursue opportunities tagged under this code, and should monitor whether the mislabeling persists or is corrected in future postings from these jurisdictions.
