UNSPSC 60124507: Play sand

UNSPSC 60124507 Play sand is a Commodity code that sees little activity in state and local procurement. The recent opportunities tagged under this code do not reflect sand procurement; instead, they capture art supplies, craft materials, and engineering services for water treatment facilities. No state or local government solicitations in the source material describe actual play sand purchases—bulk sand for playgrounds, athletic fields, sandbox fills, or similar recreational uses.

The mismatch between the code's nominal scope and the recent opportunities suggests that this Commodity code does not drive meaningful procurement volume in the state and local market at present. Buyers and procurement systems may be applying this code inconsistently or not using it for play sand acquisitions at all. A firm evaluating this code should verify whether target jurisdictions (school districts, parks departments, recreation authorities) actually tag sand purchases under UNSPSC 60124507 or use alternative coding, category definitions, or cooperative purchasing vehicles that do not surface under this code in current notices.
