UNSPSC 60122100: Candlemaking

UNSPSC 60122100 Candlemaking is a Class code that captures arts and craft supplies and materials purchased by state and local governments for educational and recreational programming. Recent solicitations show that the code actually covers a much broader range of instructional and recreational supplies than candlemaking alone — state and local buyers use it to procure craft materials, hobby supplies, and consumable resources for career and technical education, after-school programs, community recreation, and enrichment activities. School districts dominate the recent activity, though parks and recreation departments and consolidated municipal governments also solicit under the code.

Klein Independent School District in Harris County, Texas issued RFP #26-101 in April 2026 seeking Career Technical Education and Advanced Academics instructional resources across 17 CTE program areas, with a June 5, 2026 response deadline and contract start of September 1, 2026 for an initial one-year term with four optional one-year renewals. Columbus Consolidated Government's Finance Department Purchasing Division issued RFB No. 26-0014 in February 2026 to procure arts and craft, hobby, and recreational supplies for its Department of Parks and Recreation on an annual contract basis, with a February 25, 2026 bid deadline and expected annual volume of $30,000 to $50,000. Activity concentrates in Texas and Georgia, though the code likely sees broader geographic distribution. Both solicitations sought multiple vendors and welcomed participation from historically underutilized business and small-business enterprise vendors.
