UNSPSC 60106202: Biotechnology teaching aids or materials

UNSPSC 60106202 Biotechnology teaching aids or materials is a Commodity code, but the recent state and local opportunities posted under it show a material mismatch with its nominal scope. The opportunities on record are dominated by welding materials, supplies, and equipment procurements, along with vocational rehabilitation services for individuals who are blind — neither of which aligns with biotechnology teaching aids or materials. The code appears to see little relevant recent activity in its stated category.

Collin College in Texas has posted two separate ITBs for welding materials and supplies under this code (FY2024-ITB-020 and FY2024-ITB-024), each seeking three-year contracts with estimated annual volumes around $400,000 and multi-vendor awards, but these solicitations fall outside biotechnology scope. The Texas Workforce Commission has also posted under this code for Independent Living Services for Older Individuals who are Blind (solicitation 3202600157), a five-year open enrollment opportunity with a November 16, 2026 application deadline, again unrelated to biotechnology education. If your firm pursues biotechnology teaching aids, verify the correct UNSPSC code with your target procurement offices before investing in outreach; this code's recent activity does not reflect the intended commodity family.
