UNSPSC 55121729: Tokens

UNSPSC 55121729 Tokens is a Commodity code that covers physical and digital authentication devices — magnetic-stripe cards, smart cards, proximity cards, USB security keys, and software-based token generators — used by state and local governments for access control, identity verification, and system authentication. State and local agencies procure tokens across a range of functions: building access management, IT security credentialing, multi-factor authentication for remote workforce systems, and badge issuance for public-facing facilities. Buyers span state IT departments, corrections and law-enforcement agencies, public universities, municipal IT shops, county clerk and court systems, and transit authorities. The code reflects both replacement purchasing of worn or obsolete tokens and initial deployment for new security initiatives, particularly in response to cyber-risk mandates and remote-work infrastructure buildout.

The source provided contains no records of recent state or local contract opportunities tagged to UNSPSC 55121729. Without posted RFPs, RFQs, ITBs, or IFBs referencing this code, geographic distribution, issuing-body concentration, and current procurement urgency cannot be characterized from recent activity. Business development professionals should monitor solicitation channels directly for municipalities and state agencies with active IT security programs, as token purchasing tends to cluster around budget cycles and policy-driven authentication upgrades rather than continuous procurement.
