UNSPSC 50461750: Canned or jarred melendez avocados

The variety of avocados known as melendez avocados that have been canned or jarred for preservation.

UNSPSC 50461750 Canned or jarred melendez avocados (Commodity) does not appear in recent state and local procurement activity. The source contains ten recent opportunities posted between May and October 2026, none of which solicits canned or jarred avocados. The opportunities instead target broader consumable-food categories—canned tomatoes, potatoes, general shelf-stable proteins and vegetables, cafeteria entrees, and food-service supplies—under codes that do not align with the specific commodity naming. State and local buyers are soliciting these items through department-level procurement offices, school nutrition programs, and corrections departments across Texas, Georgia, and Oregon, but no issuing body has posted a requirement matching the Commodity's scope.

The mismatch between the UNSPSC code and the recent opportunities suggests either that canned melendez avocados are not a material category in state and local procurement at present, or that jurisdictions sourcing this item tag it under a broader food-supply code rather than this Commodity-level designation. Firms targeting this code should monitor cooperatives and multi-state food-service contracts for potential future activity, but current market signal is absent.
