UNSPSC 50377104: Canned or jarred organic viking chokeberries

The variety of organic chokeberries known as organic viking chokeberries that have been canned or jarred for preservation.

UNSPSC 50377104, Canned or jarred organic viking chokeberries, is a Commodity code that represents a narrow specialty food product with minimal recent state and local procurement activity. The recent opportunities block contains no solicitations actually seeking canned or jarred organic viking chokeberries; instead, the sourced records show state and local agencies purchasing canned applesauce, fresh produce, frozen fruit bars, dried fruit products, and broad-spectrum food commodities for institutional food service. The code shows little relevant recent activity—no state or local procurement office has posted an opportunity matching this specific commodity in the data window.

The mismatch between the code's nominal scope and the actual opportunities indexed to it reflects common tagging imprecision in state and local procurement systems. Practitioners evaluating this code should verify how their target jurisdictions classify specialty fruit products before pursuing it; in practice, canned or jarred berries—if procured at all by state and local bodies—are likely bundled into broader food commodity RFPs or sourced through existing cooperative purchasing agreements rather than tendered as discrete line items or standalone solicitations.
