UNSPSC 50211609: Smoking pipes

UNSPSC 50211609 Smoking pipes, a Commodity code, shows no relevant recent state and local procurement activity; the three most recent opportunities tagged under this code concern bridge replacement, outfall pipe replacement, and stormwater pipe rehabilitation—infrastructure construction and drainage projects bearing no relation to smoking pipes or tobacco-related products.

The mismatch reflects a common tagging error in state and local procurement systems where infrastructure pipe work receives miscoded UNSPSC assignments. The issuing bodies—Orange County, Florida and the City of Palm Bay, Florida—are soliciting civil engineering and construction services, not consumer goods. The Orange County Y26742 IFB for emergency bridge replacements on Wallington Drive and Egret Way (due July 7, 2026, estimated cost $6,202,246.05) and the City of Palm Bay 41ITB26 for I-95 outfall pipe replacement (due July 14, 2026) are both awarded by the lowest responsive, responsible bidder and governed by site-specific environmental permits and bonding requirements. A third opportunity, the City of Palm Bay 38RFI26 stormwater pipe rehabilitation RFI along Malabar Road (closed June 9, 2026), was a pre-solicitation information-gathering effort. Firms pursuing state and local procurement under this code should verify the actual commodity classification in source documents before investing bid resources, as the code does not currently reflect meaningful activity in smoking pipes or related consumer products.
