UNSPSC 46161606: Life clothes for fishing boat

Life jackets that fishermen can wear instead of work clothes when fishing

UNSPSC 46161606 Life clothes for fishing boat (Commodity) appears in state and local procurement records with minimal recent relevant activity. The code's nominal scope addresses personal protective apparel for commercial fishing operations; however, the recent opportunities tagged under this code show no substantive connection to fishing boat clothing or aquatic occupational wear. Instead, the records reflect solicitations for derelict vessel removal services, water treatment equipment, trail construction, chiller water treatment, law enforcement equipment, fire department water rescue gear, educational instructional resources, marine patrol outboard motors, and crane maintenance — none of which align with the code's stated commodity definition. The mismatch between the code classification and actual procurement needs suggests either miscoding by issuing bodies or that this particular code sees negligible real-world activity in state and local purchasing.

No recent solicitations are advancing actual procurement of life clothes, personal flotation devices, or occupational apparel for fishing vessels under this Commodity code. Given the absence of aligned opportunities, the code does not signal active market demand for business development focus at this time. Vendors serving fishing boat safety apparel or occupational maritime clothing should monitor whether state and local procurement offices begin correctly tagging such buys under this or related UNSPSC categories, or consider whether alternative family or class codes better capture their actual customer activity in the state and local space.
