UNSPSC 42203904: Nuclear sealed calibration sources

In this classification, this commodity indicates a product used as a device that re designed for calibrating and checking radiological spectrometers and counters in a medical setting. Most nations, for tariff and trade purposes, schedule these products under HS 901819.

UNSPSC 42203904 Nuclear sealed calibration sources, a Commodity code, covers the procurement of sealed radioactive sources used to calibrate radiation detection and measurement instruments. State and local governments purchase these sources primarily for environmental health departments, public health laboratories, radiation safety programs, and scientific research facilities that must maintain calibrated dosimetry equipment and perform regulatory compliance testing. The sources are typically supplied as sealed units containing isotopes such as cobalt-60, cesium-137, or americium-241, with documented certification and traceability to national standards.

The recent-opportunities block contains no posted state and local procurement records under this code. Activity in sealed calibration sources remains minimal in the state and local market, reflecting the specialized nature of the commodity, the limited number of facilities requiring routine calibration, and the regulatory complexity surrounding radioactive material licensing and possession.
