UNSPSC 42142908: Eyeglass cleaning kits

In this classification, this commodity indicates the textile patch and cleaning solution used to clean the lens for a product the uses a single lens to correct flawed vision in a human. Most nations, for tariff and trade purposes, schedule these products under HS 900311.

UNSPSC 42142908 Eyeglass cleaning kits, a Commodity code, nominally covers individual cleaning products for optical lenses, but the recent state and local opportunities tagged under this code show minimal direct relevance to the code's stated scope. The Bridgeport, Connecticut solicitation (BNB051266) requests bids for paper and cleaning products — including food service disposables, packaging materials, janitorial supplies, and paper products for school nutrition services — rather than eyeglass-specific cleaning kits. The Sourcewell cooperative procurement (#061626) seeks law enforcement equipment through a multi-state framework, which bears no connection to eyeglass cleaning products. State and local issuing bodies have not posted recent opportunities that match the code's nominal commodity definition, suggesting either minimal procurement activity under this specific code or systematic misclassification of submitted solicitations within the UNSPSC taxonomy.

The geographic spread of recent activity is limited to Connecticut (Bridgeport school district) and a multi-state cooperative anchored in Minnesota and Washington counties, neither of which represents demand for eyeglass cleaning kits. No representative recent opportunities for eyeglass cleaning kits themselves appear in the current posting cycle, and the code shows little actionable signal for vendors pursuing state and local contracts in this product category.
