UNSPSC 41171605: Multipurpose culture medium

In this classification, a Multipurpose culture medium connotes a device that consists primarily of liquid or solid biological materials intended for medical purposes for the cultivation and identification of several types of pathogenic microorganisms without the need of additional nutritional supplements US FDA regulates Multipurpose culture medium under 21 CFR 866.2300 and under FDA product code JSB.

UNSPSC 41171605 Multipurpose culture medium is a Commodity code tracking growth media used in clinical and research laboratory settings, though the source provides no recent state and local solicitations under this code. The absence of posted opportunities suggests minimal current procurement activity by state agencies, counties, municipalities, school districts, or other public bodies for this specialized microbiology supply. Without recent RFP, RFQ, IFB, or ITB records, the issuing-body mix, geographic spread, and representative recent opportunities cannot be characterized.

State and local procurement of culture media typically occurs through standing contracts with medical suppliers or cooperative purchasing vehicles rather than competitive solicitations, which may explain why this Commodity code shows no visible recent activity in the state and local market. Vendors pursuing this code should monitor cooperative purchasing catalogs and state healthcare facility supply schedules as alternative channels to detect demand.
