UNSPSC 41122404: Laboratory tongs

UNSPSC 41122404 Laboratory tongs (Commodity) covers hand-held laboratory instruments and specialized equipment used in medical, clinical, and scientific settings, though the recent state and local opportunities tagged under this code show minimal alignment with the nominal product scope. San Mateo Medical Center's May 2026 RFP for surgical power equipment and Sourcewell's cooperative procurement for law enforcement equipment neither directly solicits laboratory tongs nor represents typical activity under this Commodity code. The issuing bodies in the recent record include a county public hospital system and a multi-state cooperative purchasing vehicle, but neither opportunity reflects the ordinary purchasing patterns expected for laboratory hand tools and precision instruments in state or local procurement.

No recent state and local solicitations directly purchase laboratory tongs or closely related hand-held laboratory instruments. The two opportunities present in the source—surgical power equipment and law enforcement equipment—diverge substantially from the code's nominal scope and do not establish a meaningful baseline for geographic concentration, issuing-body patterns, or market activity under UNSPSC 41122404. The code appears inactive or misapplied in the recent state and local procurement record available.
