UNSPSC 41113740: Voice data video cable tester

Device to test and verify wiring integrity and assure proper terminations for different types of networks.

UNSPSC 41113740 Voice data video cable tester is a Commodity code, but the recent state and local opportunities posted under this code show little alignment with the code's nominal scope. The seven most recent solicitations tagged to this code include automated vending machine concession services, commercial water meter replacement, pole-mounted transformers, reclaimed water meters, law enforcement equipment, battery backup systems, career and technical education instructional resources, and a mechanical test system—none of which involves cable testing or network diagnostics equipment. The mismatch suggests either systematic miscoding in the posting jurisdictions' procurement systems or a divergence between the taxonomy classification and the actual goods and services being solicited under this code number in state and local procurement activity.

No recent state and local contract opportunities present evidence of demand for voice data video cable testers themselves. The geographic spread of opportunities spans Texas (City of McKinney, City of Lubbock), Georgia (Fulton County), Florida (Collier County), Minnesota and Washington (Sourcewell cooperative purchasing), Nevada, and Mississippi, but these jurisdictions are soliciting unrelated goods and services. Without evidence of actual procurement activity aligned to the code's intended scope, practitioners evaluating this code should verify whether it remains active in state and local procurement or whether issuing bodies have reclassified cable-testing equipment under a different UNSPSC category.
