UNSPSC 41113702: Comparators

UNSPSC 41113702 Comparators is a Commodity code that encompasses laboratory measurement and analysis instruments used by state and local health departments, environmental agencies, and research facilities. State and local governments buy comparators—precision reference instruments used to calibrate, validate, or cross-check measurements in clinical, environmental, and forensic laboratory settings—as part of broader lab operations and quality-assurance programs. The code appears in procurements from public health departments, environmental testing labs, and specialized diagnostic facilities that require traceable, certified measurement standards to maintain regulatory compliance and data integrity.

Recent activity shows limited direct solicitation under this code. The County of Santa Clara posted a Request for Information in April 2026 (RFITSSFY260686, due April 22, 2026) for a Public Health Lab Information Management Solution Replacement—a lab information management system (LIMS) to support workflows for the County's Public Health Lab. While this solicitation was tagged to the comparators code, the actual scope centers on software and systems integration rather than comparator instruments themselves, suggesting a potential tagging mismatch. State and local procurement activity under the comparators code appears sparse in recent records; the Santa Clara RFI does not represent typical purchasing under this Commodity code and may reflect administrative coding rather than active demand for comparator hardware or services.
