UNSPSC 41113321: Paint tester

UNSPSC 41113321 Paint tester (Commodity) does not align with the state and local procurement activity tagged under this code. The two recent opportunities are a Region 7 Purchasing Cooperative catalog discount bid for paint and painting supplies worth $10.3 million over two years and a City of Madison exterior painting and siding project. Neither solicitation concerns paint-testing equipment or services; both involve the procurement and application of paint itself. The paint-tester commodity code appears to be a misclassification in the underlying opportunity data rather than an active market signal for paint-testing instruments or apparatus in state and local government purchasing.

State and local procurement activity in paint and related supplies is driven by cooperative purchasing vehicles (Region 7 Purchasing Cooperative serving multiple jurisdictions in Texas) and municipal agencies (City of Madison, Wisconsin). The Karabis Apartments project required Davis-Bacon compliance, prevailing-wage documentation, and insurance thresholds typical of public-works painting contracts. Geographic activity is represented by Texas and Wisconsin. No additional recent opportunities tagged to this code appear in the source, and the mismatch between the code's stated commodity (paint tester) and actual solicitation scope limits actionability for vendors in the paint-testing market.
