UNSPSC 41104005: Laboratory bailers

UNSPSC 41104005 Laboratory bailers, a Commodity code, shows minimal relevant recent activity in state and local procurement. The two opportunities posted under this code—a DNA database buccal collection kit procurement from Nebraska and a bridge replacement project from Orange County, Florida—are unrelated to laboratory bailers. The Nebraska solicitation (ITB 125399 OR) seeks pre-assembled DNA collection kits for forensic evidence handling, including collection devices, envelopes, gloves, and seals for the Nebraska State Patrol Crime Laboratory, estimated at 7,500 units annually under a four-year initial term with one-year renewal options. The Orange County opportunity (Y26-742) is a $6.2 million emergency bridge replacement project for two structures. Neither reflects actual procurement of laboratory bailers as laboratory equipment or sampling devices.

The mismatch between the code's nominal scope and the posted opportunities suggests either miscategorization in the state purchasing systems or that laboratory bailers do not see regular solicitation volume in state and local markets. No representative state-local procurement activity for laboratory bailers proper is evident in the recent record. Bidders evaluating this code should confirm categorization directly with procurement offices before pursuing opportunities, as the current tagging does not align with the code's intended commodity line.
