UNSPSC 40174404: Spectacle blinds

A spectacle blind consists of a spade and a spacer which are manufactured for the purpose of installation in one piece. It is used as a safety device to isolate a particular section of pipe or equipment when this section or this equipment is to be inspected or decommissioned.

UNSPSC 40174404 Spectacle blinds, a Commodity code, shows no relevant recent state and local procurement activity. The four most recent opportunities posted under this code—a pavement rehabilitation project from Santa Clara County, mechanical joint restraining devices from Palm Beach County, flanged water pipe fittings from the City of Tampa, and water pipe and miscellaneous fittings from the City of Phoenix—all involve infrastructure materials and heavy construction work unrelated to spectacle blinds (window coverings or similar products). The code assignment appears to reflect a cataloging mismatch rather than actual procurement intent under the code's nominal scope.

No decision-relevant procurement opportunity exists under this code based on the available recent activity. Firms pursuing spectacle blinds sales to state and local governments should verify that their target agencies are coding window treatment purchases under a different UNSPSC category, or monitor this code's future activity to confirm whether recent assignments were isolated data-entry errors.
