UNSPSC 31301109: Beryllium open die machined forgings

UNSPSC 31301109 Beryllium open die machined forgings is a Commodity code covering specialized metal forgings used in aerospace, defense, and industrial applications where high strength-to-weight ratio and thermal properties are critical. State and local governments procure these components primarily as end-use parts or as inputs to larger fabrication and assembly work for defense contractors, aerospace suppliers, and specialized manufacturing operations located within their jurisdictions. The code captures finished or near-finished beryllium forgings that have undergone open die forging and secondary machining operations to specification.

The source provides no recent state and local contract opportunities under this code. Beryllium open die machined forgings fall outside typical state and local procurement patterns — these are specialized aerospace and defense inputs purchased by private contractors and federal agencies rather than by state departments, counties, municipalities, school districts, or transit authorities. The code likely reflects a legacy taxonomy entry or represents an edge case where a state or local entity may occasionally source these materials as part of a larger subcontract relationship, but the primary market for beryllium forgings operates in federal and commercial channels.
