UNSPSC 31291108: Magnesium machined hydro static extrusions

UNSPSC 31291108 Magnesium machined hydro static extrusions is a Commodity code covering precision-formed magnesium stock produced through hydrostatic extrusion and subsequent machining—material used in weight-critical aerospace, defense, and industrial applications where magnesium's high strength-to-weight ratio and thermal properties justify its cost and handling complexity. State and local government procurement under this code is minimal; no recent opportunities appear in the available record.

The sparsity of activity reflects the narrow end-use profile: magnesium extrusions of this type serve primarily federal aerospace and defense contractors and specialized industrial manufacturers, not the goods-and-services categories that drive state and local spending. School districts, municipalities, counties, and transit authorities do not procure precision magnesium stock. When state or local bodies do transact in advanced materials, they typically do so as subcontractors to federal programs or as pass-through procurement on behalf of federal customers, activity that does not consistently surface in state-local-specific opportunity channels. Firms pursuing this code should expect engagement through federal-level procurement (NASA, DoD, prime contractors) rather than through state and local RFP, RFQ, or IFB channels.
