UNSPSC 31171549: Jewel bearing

Material that is made for jewelry, like, sapphire, ruby and others, non-magnetic substance with a little loss on torque and friction of bearing for freely rotating equipment by securing the rotating shaft or axle and others of a machine on certain location.

UNSPSC 31171549 Jewel bearing is a Commodity code that covers precision bearings using jeweled components, typically small synthetic or natural stones set in metal races to reduce friction in high-precision applications. State and local governments procure jewel bearings primarily as replacement or maintenance components for specialized equipment — including surveying instruments, test equipment, scientific instruments, and other precision machinery where minimal friction and high accuracy are essential. The issuing bodies soliciting under this code span state departments, counties, and municipalities, though activity is infrequent relative to broader mechanical component families.

Recent state and local contract opportunities tagged under this code show minimal activity; the most recent notice in the available record is a Williamson County Purchasing Department relocation announcement dated July 14, 2026, which constitutes an administrative notice rather than a procurement solicitation and provides no scope, timeline, or contract value. No substantive recent opportunities were identified under this code.
