UNSPSC 31171515: Plain bearings

UNSPSC 31171515 Plain bearings is a Commodity code that covers rolling-element and sleeve bearings for use in mechanical equipment and industrial applications. State and local governments procure bearings as maintenance and repair components for facility operations, machinery, and equipment across departments. The issuing bodies under this code span county-level facilities management and purchasing departments. San Bernardino County's Project & Facilities Management Department represents the typical buyer profile—facilities-focused procurement offices that source bearings and related mechanical parts to sustain building systems, HVAC equipment, motors, and pumps.

Recent activity under the code is sparse. San Bernardino County, California issued ITB 6391 on May 18, 2026, for Parts & Supplies due June 19, 2026, which included bearings alongside over 500 line items spanning refrigerants, HVAC components, electrical supplies, motors, pumps, building materials, and maintenance consumables. The procurement was open to responsive and responsible bidders with a 5 percent local vendor preference for vendors with principal place of business within San Bernardino County. A second record from Williamson County, Texas is a facilities-relocation notice with no procurement scope and does not represent procurement activity under the code. Limited recent opportunities suggest the code sees episodic, often bundled procurement rather than dedicated bearing solicitations, indicating that targeted pursuit should focus on facilities maintenance and repair RFQs and ITBs from county-level facilities management and project offices.
