UNSPSC 31101602: Ferrous alloy sand casting

Ferrous alloy object cast from sand molds

UNSPSC 31101602 Ferrous alloy sand casting is a Commodity code covering cast iron and ferrous alloy components for utility and infrastructure applications. State and local governments procure manhole castings, grates, frames, lids, and related accessories under this code for sewer, water, and stormwater systems. Counties and municipalities are the primary buyers, acquiring these castings through multiyear supply contracts that ensure ongoing inventory for utility maintenance and system expansion. The work is straightforward commodity supply — vendors manufacture or source standard and custom ferrous castings to specification and deliver them to the purchasing jurisdiction.

DeKalb County, Georgia posted a three-year multiyear contract solicitation for manhole castings and accessories on April 1, 2026, with a response deadline of April 30, 2026 (IFB, PE64400NONST2026000000240). The solicitation documents, evaluation criteria, set-aside designations, and award values are available through the DeKalb County procurement portal at https://procurement.opengov.com/portal/dekalbcountyga. Beyond this single recent posting, the source provides no other opportunities, geographic concentration pattern, or repeat-buyer information to characterize broader activity under the code.
