UNSPSC 27112006: Scythes

UNSPSC 27112006 Scythes is a Commodity code that, based on recent state and local procurement activity, encompasses weed control and vegetation management services on public waterways and drainage infrastructure. The code's nominal product scope diverges significantly from what state and local governments are actually soliciting under it; recent opportunities focus on treatment services — chemical or mechanical weed control across secondary canal and ditch systems — rather than the scythe tool itself. Issuing bodies under this code include county-level drainage and public works departments. Orange County, Florida has posted solicitations for ongoing weed control services on secondary canals and ditches countywide, indicating that vegetation management contracts tied to stormwater and irrigation infrastructure represent the primary procurement activity classified here.

Orange County, Florida has posted sealed-offer solicitation Y26-158 for Weed Control for Secondary Canals and Ditches Countywide, with responses due June 30, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. ET via the OpenGov e-Procurement Platform. The scope covers spray treatment and weed control across secondary canal and ditch systems serving Orange County and Orlando City, with the county providing spray location maps and boundary documentation in bid exhibits. The county has issued multiple versions of the Scope of Services document to clarify treatment frequencies, chemical or mechanical methods, equipment requirements, and performance standards; respondents must reference the final version before submission. Questions are due June 10, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. ET through the OpenGov Q&A module.
