UNSPSC 27111518: Wire lug crimping tool

UNSPSC 27111518 Wire lug crimping tool — a Commodity code — describes manual or powered hand tools used to crimp wire lugs and terminal connectors. State and local procurement activity under this code shows little recent relevance; the opportunities tagged to it span unrelated categories including pool chemicals, transit bus painting supplies, recreation program supplies, boat repair services, steel signposts, fleet maintenance labor rates, window treatments, antifreeze, sign sheeting, container spreaders, bus wash wands, CPR masks, election equipment transport, vacuum sweepers, ground maintenance, snow removal, mechanical services catalog discounts, test clamps, drain cleaning, environmental lead investigations, aluminum sign blanks, tree removal, hoist services, intercom systems, background screening, MRO supplies, transit technicians, and document destruction — none of which involve wire lug crimping or electrical terminal assembly work. The City of Detroit Office of Contracting and Procurement dominates the recent opportunity sample but issues no solicitations under this code for its stated commodity.

The mismatch between code and opportunity suggests either that wire lug crimping tools are not actively procured through state and local channels at present, or that procurement offices are systematically mis-tagging their electrical tools and connectors categories. Firms pursuing this code should verify actual buying patterns through direct outreach to transit authorities, municipal fleet maintenance departments, and utility procurement offices before committing resources to this UNSPSC category.
