UNSPSC 26101709: Camshaft lifters

UNSPSC 26101709 Camshaft lifters (Commodity) does not align with the recent state and local contract opportunities tagged under it. The code nominally describes internal engine components—specifically camshaft lifters used in automotive, industrial, or power-generation equipment—yet the solicitations posted under this code involve emergency backup generators, IT infrastructure, bus engine and chassis repairs, electrical power generation equipment, electric motors, generator maintenance, power distribution panels, and motor repair services. None of these opportunities request camshaft lifters as discrete products or components. The mismatch suggests either a taxonomy classification error in the state and local procurement databases or incidental tagging that does not reflect actual buying activity under the code's intended scope.

Recent opportunities do show activity in related mechanical and electrical power systems across state agencies, county governments, port authorities, transit authorities, and water utilities—primarily in Georgia, Florida, South Dakota, and Texas—but these represent engine repair services, generator supply and maintenance, electric motor supply and repair, and power distribution equipment rather than the camshaft lifter commodity itself. No current state or local solicitation in the source material requests camshaft lifters as a primary deliverable or line item.
