UNSPSC 25172119: Airbag fabric

Fabric in its raw state for use in the manufacture of automotive inflatable restraints

UNSPSC 25172119 Airbag fabric (Commodity) shows minimal relevant recent activity in state and local procurement. The code nominally covers airbag fabric materials, but the single substantive opportunity posted under this code in recent months was actually for ethylene glycol antifreeze — a significant scope mismatch that suggests miscoding or database entry error rather than authentic activity in airbag-fabric procurement. State and local governments do not appear to solicit airbag fabric as a standalone commodity through public contracting channels at scale.

The City of Detroit Office of Contracting and Procurement posted an RFQ (Solicitation 551483) on September 25, 2026 for low silicate, phosphate-free ethylene glycol antifreeze in bulk and 55-gallon drums, with responses due October 9, 2026, supporting an estimated annual usage of approximately 24,000 gallons for the Detroit Department of Transportation's Extended Service Interval program. This opportunity included Detroit-based business equalization credits and required the contractor to be a current commercial antifreeze formulator or authorized dealer with $1,000,000 minimum liability insurance and Michigan hazardous-materials transportation licensing. The code shows no other traceable airbag-fabric procurement activity in the recent-opportunities dataset, and the single entry is not genuinely relevant to the code's nominal scope.
